How to configure AutoDJ in CentovaCast

5 min read

AutoDJ
If your stream hosting provider has enabled autoDJ, you can configure it on the AutoDJ tab. Only if you are allowed to upload media (MP3 files, etc.) to the server are these settings necessary. The autoDJ feature might be turned off if you want to supply your own live source (for example, SAM Broadcaster or the Winamp DSP plugin).

Depending on the kind of autoDJ you have chosen for your stream, the autoDJ tab will look different. Below, each version is covered in its own section.

Regardless of the autoDJ type used, the following fields will always be displayed:

AutoDJ status
Indicates if autoDJ should be turned on. If your stream is online right now, you won’t be able to change it using this option; you’ll have to stop it. Choices consist of :

1- Enabled
Support for autoDJ will be enabled if it is chosen. If you will not be supplying your own live streaming source and instead intend to submit your media to the server, then this setting is required. It should be noted that if autoDJ is turned on but no media (such as MP3 files) have been uploaded or added to a playlist that has been turned on, the server will not start. Consequently, before launching the server with autoDJ support enabled, make sure to upload a minimum of one track and add one or more tracks to a General Rotation playlist that is enabled.

2- Disabled
When enabled, autoDJ support is disabled. If you intend to use a live streaming feed, you must enable this setting.

Genre
fits the genre that your station is playing. This is solely for informational purposes and might be made public.

Song title codes
If enabled, the autoDJ will append a brief tracking number at the end of each song title that appears in the media players of your listeners.
As an illustration, rather than: Song Title — Artist Name
Instead, you might see the following: Song Title — Artist Name [C51B]

This makes it possible to compile comprehensive reports with the majority of the data required to submit reports to the relevant parties for the purpose of determining royalties (under the Tracks tab of the Statistics Report page). The generated reports can be less thorough and might not have enough information for appropriate royalties reporting if this option is turned off.

Crossfade length
The number of seconds that the end of one track is blended into the start of the next when crossfading is enabled.

Crossfade fade-in
If crossfading is enabled, this value indicates how long the next track’s fade-in will last in seconds. Values in decimals, such as 0.5, are accepted.

Crossfade fade-out
Gives the current track’s fade-out length in seconds when crossfading is enabled. Values in decimals, such as 0.5, are accepted.

Crossfade mode
defines the way in which tracks are mixed together during a crossfade when crossfading is activated. Selections consist of:
Normal
The current track and the next track are crossfaded in accordance with the fade-in, fade-out, and length values when the conventional crossfade algorithm is chosen.
Smart
Once chosen, a “smart” crossfade algorithm is applied, which determines the best crossfade technique based on how loud the last few seconds of the current track and the first few seconds of the following track are perceived to be. While the “Normal” crossfade mode may produce results more in line with what most listeners anticipate to hear in practice, the theory behind this should lead to a better-sounding crossfade.

Apply replay gain
Allow the audio stream’s volume to be adjusted by using the replay gain values (if any) that are saved in the MP3 files. This could be helpful when utilizing MP3s from various sources to prevent abrupt level changes between tracks.

Song title codes
When autoDJ is activated, a brief tracking number will be appended to the end of the song titles that appear in the media players of your listeners.
For instance, as an alternative to: Name of Artist — Song Title
Alternatively, you may notice the following: Song Title [C51B] — Artist Name

As a result, comprehensive reports with the majority of the data required to submit reports to the proper parties for royalty determination purposes can be produced and prepared (under the Statistics Report page’s Tracks tab). In the event that this option is deactivated, the reports that are produced might be less thorough and might not have enough data for precise royalties reporting.

Crossfade Length
The number of seconds that the end of one track is blended into the start of the next when crossfading is enabled.

Crossfade Style
Describes how songs are mixed together during a crossfade when crossfading is enabled.

Minimum track length
Tracks with a duration less than the minimum length will not experience crossfading when crossfading is enabled. This guarantees that brief snippets (such as station branding or extremely brief commercials) continue to sound.

Crossfade Length
The number of seconds that the end of one track is blended into the start of the next when crossfading is enabled.

Crossfade threshold
The minimum track length (in seconds) that should trigger crossfading is specified. Tracks that are shorter than this won’t undergo crossfading.
